Wondrous Walkabout – Manly to Spit Bridge
We live in one of the greatest tourist destinations on Earth. Yet how much of your backyard have you really uncovered? Come with us to admire parts of Sydney that you might have known of, but never got around to exploring.
Join us on this free and active stream of local bush walks and an appreciation of the best local spots you never dared to find on your own.
First up: Manly to Spit Bridge. We will be doing this walk in reverse so we can end the day in Manly!
Manly Council has invested pretty pennies into making this gorgeous nature hike a journey of incredible proportions. Beyond the blasé but beautiful harbor views you’re used to, this medium grade 10km hike cruises around Manly, Shelley, Forty Baskets Beach, Castle Rock, and Clontarf beaches and an Aboriginal engraving site of the Kameragal clan. Walk in the steps of the Olympic Torch or gaze upon the reserves that every photographer dares to capture.
When we reach our destination, we’ll take one last swim on Manly Beach and then retire to one of the great pubs around Manly before heading home.
We aren’t offering transport options as this is a free event, but there are many ways you can get to the event and home
• Get a bus 180 from Wynyard Station to Spit Bridge and then catch ferry back to Circular Quay.
• Car pool with two drivers. One parks in Manly, then other driver pick up driver and goes back to Spit Bridge. When event is finished at Manly go back to Spit Bridge in the car that is left at Manly.
