Wondrous Walkabout – Taronga Zoo to Balmoral
We live in one of the greatest tourist destinations on Earth. Yet how much of your backyard have you really uncovered? Come with us to admire parts of Sydney that you might have known of, but never got around to exploring.
Join us on this free and active stream of local bush walks and an appreciation of the best local spots you never dared to find on your own.
This Wondrous Walkabout is Taronga Zoo to Balmoral.
This walk explores a great section of Sydney Harbour. The walk starts at the Taronga Zoo ferry wharf with views of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The spectacular views continue as you explore bushland and the bays along the way. The walk also explores a historic section of the harbour, including the fortifications at Bradley’s Head and Chowder Bay. Some sections of this walk are closed at night. There are a few places to get food along the way, and many great places to eat your own packed lunch.
When we reach our destination, we can find a place to have lunch and relax after the walk, and if its a nice day Balmoral Beach is right there.
We aren’t offering transport options as this is a free event, but there are many ways you can get to the event and home
- Catch the Circular Quay to Mosman (F6) or Taronga Zoo ferry (F2 direct to Tarongo Zoo) for the start of the walk. After the walk finishes in Balmoral you can walk to Military Rd (15-20min walk) to catch one more many buses back to Wynyard Station. These are only suggestions.
